Frequently Asked Questions
What is Stride Career Prep?
Stride Career Prep is a program that offers a career-focused education to prepare your student for life after high school. Expanding on traditional vocational education curriculums, Stride Career Prep includes courses in fields such as business, information technology, and health and human services.
Why should a student choose Stride Career Prep?
Students have a number of reasons for opting into this program. For students who already know what they want to do after high school, taking career-focused electives starts them on an early path to their eventual job. For others, Stride Career Prep can help them define their interests and possible career paths. And still others may just enjoy courses that they can apply to everyday life—mastering skills like teamwork, project management, and leadership.
What are career fields and career pathways?
A "career field" is a broad term for an industry classification. Stride Career Prep offers courses in five career fields:
- Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources
- Business
- Health and Human Services
- Information Technology
- Manufacturing
These career fields are further divided into "pathways," which are specializations within that career field. Each career field has one or more available pathways. For example, Marketing is a pathway under the Business career field.
