If you’re like me, the thought of spending your winter break scrolling through Tik Tok, bingeing Netflix and taking naps sounds pretty good. However, winter break is a great time to get ahead of the competition and start planning for your future. Wondering how you can make your break productive? Here are four activities that’ll help you make the most of your winter break.

1. Build your resume and gain professional skills

A break from school is the perfect time to learn professional skills that you may not have time to learn during the hustle and bustle of school. If you really want to get a head start on the competition, you may be interested in our, free Midwinter Mashup! For just a few hours over three days, you can gain the confidence and skills you need to land a part-time job or internship.

2. Take a course

Although school may not be in session, there’s no reason to stop learning. Whether you want to learn how to use a new software, such as excel or photoshop, or take a deep dive into one of your passions, there are tons of free online courses for you to explore. If you’re interested, Udemy, an online platform with thousands of courses, is a great place to start!

3. Volunteer

The holidays are a wonderful time to give back to your community. Whether you choose to partner with a local organization or opt start your own initiative, there are tons of needs you can fill in your community this winter. Volunteering is also a great way to build your resume!

4. Apply for summer internships

You’d be surprised to find that many summer internship applications open during the winter.
