Ashlee, an 11th-grader at Texas Virtual Academy at Hallsville, earned first place in the Misdemeanor Traffic Stop category at the TXPSTA Region 4 competition on December 14, 2024. Organized by the Texas Public Service Teacher Association, the event prepares students for careers in law enforcement and public service. Guided by her mentor, veteran police officer Mr. Castro, Ashlee has excelled in skills like conducting traffic stops and writing citations. Overcoming challenges like autism and dyslexia, she’s now gearing up for the State competition in Houston this February, where she’ll compete with top students from across Texas.
