Cabarrus County Schools is being recognized nationwide for it’s program to educate English language learners.
The district’s program is one of seven in the US and the only one in North Carolina to win a Fuel Education Transformation Award.
The program implements cultural aspects to allow students to relate to what they’re learning.
“I’m excited and I’m very proud of what we do here in Cabarrus County Schools, because we want our students to know that we’re here to support them not only today but for their future,” Teresa Palm, Title 3 ESL Coordinator said.
The district’s English language learner population includes about 3,000 students from 82 different countries. The summer session of the program kicked off today.
