Where You Should Sell Your Stuff

With so many ways to sell your old items, it’s hard to decide where to sell. Here’s a review of three of the best online marketplaces.

Whether it’s a piece of clothing that you grew out of quickly or a set of books you’re never going to get around to reading, we all have old stuff lying around the house that is just too good to throw out. In these situations, selling your old items is a perfect solution; giving you a less cluttered house and a fuller wallet. However, with so many ways to sell your old items, deciding where to list can feel overwhelming. If you need help navigating online marketplaces, here are three of the best ones.

1. eBay

eBay is the best place to sell any item that is small enough to be inexpensively shipped. eBay is incredibly easy to use and will connect you to billions of shoppers worldwide. However, as a function of the site’s size, you will also have a lot of competition for sales. When selling here, be sure to research the prices of comparable items to be sure that your price can attract buyers.

2. Poshmark

Poshmark is the best place for all the clothes you no longer want. When selling, be sure to give very specific descriptions of each item, as the site will promote more specific listings over those without many details. After you make a sale, Poshmark will email you a prepaid shipping label, making the shipping process incredibly easy.

3. Craigslist

Craigslist is great for larger items, such as an old bike or set of skis that may be expensive to ship, as it allows you to sell to people who live in your area. As a teen, however, you should always be careful when talking to potential buyers on the site. Avoid giving out your personal information and be sure to bring your parent or another trusted adult when you meet with a buyer to exchange items in a public location.
