Online School Gives Students Individualized Learning Experiences And Greater Flexibility
By Jasmine Silvestri, Stride Student Advisor
Our world is powered by digital technology in every sector of our lives, including education. As a student, who has been exposed to both brick-and-mortar and virtual environments, I've learned that online schooling holds so many more benefits!
This is my third year attending a Stride K12-powered school, and I have had the privilege to study and learn in ways I never thought possible before. Like many other students, I enrolled in a Stride K12-powered school due to the pandemic, and up until that point, I had only ever learned in a face-to-face classroom. I quickly learned that the virtual classroom is not very different from a brick-and-mortar classroom. However, Stride allowed me to create my own schedule, all while maintaining high academic performance expectations.
Enrollment Is Open!
Stride prioritizes their students' success inside and outside of school. Before the first day of school, I was asked about my future goals, and what career I was planning on pursuing. The thought of life after high school can be scary, but with my counselor's support and help, I decided on a career pathway that would be best for me. Stride offers various career pathways, which provide broad exposure to a career field, while also incorporating project-based learning and real-world problem-solving. Within these pathways, students can earn certifications, which can benefit them in their future endeavors… whether it be pursuing a career or attending college.
Graduation plans are essential for high school students, as well, hence the importance of deciding what a student wants to do after high school. Working together with these pathways, Stride schools offer internships to students who wish to take what they've learned in their classes and put them to the test in a real-world, working environment. With these opportunities, Stride enables students to learn and apply responsibilities they wouldn't learn in brick-and-mortar schools, and then further apply what they learn from Stride to future endeavors, after high school.
While attending an online school, students have the luxury of flexibility. You can do school virtually anywhere that has working Internet. This allows students to work not just from their homes, but from anywhere, and anytime. Many high school students, like myself, have jobs and family obligations, and with Stride, there have been several occasions in which online school has allowed me to multi-task. Additionally, online school lets you go at your own pace in your courses. For example, if you feel you understand the content, and your teacher permits it, you could work ahead in the course; or if you think you need extra help with specific criteria, you can take your time and learn it at your leisure, with the assistance of your teacher.
Stride empowers students to study and learn in a way that works best for them. Virtual schooling with Stride allows students to reach their full potentials. The various responsibilities that Stride teaches students will also follow them after high school, and throughout life. So, if you or your family are considering Stride K12-powered online schools, I truly believe you will gain immensely and have an overall beneficial experience!
