How Online School And Career Prep Programs Can Benefit Your Life
By Angel Canete, Stride Student Advisor
This blog post is all about the benefits of online school, from a student’s perspective, and how it can change your life for the better! Many people tend to wonder what the daily schedule of an online school student looks like. And, I thought writing about that might be a good way to open up the broader discussion of the benefits of online school and career prep programs.
Most online schools have these sessions called “class connects,” that are held every morning, and often go on through the afternoon and evening hours. These sessions help students learn the information from their classes with their teachers, so that they can input their information into their assignments afterwards. Each assignment session takes about one hour to complete, but this also depends on what the teachers have assigned, or the grade level in which the student is enrolled. Every day, students are obligated to log in, attend live “class connect” sessions, and finish all homework assignments. This allows for maximum assignment understanding, and it can be a big help in getting the most from career prep programs in high school, as well.
There are many other benefits of choosing online school, too. These benefits can go beyond the class connection sessions that form the basis for greater subject matter understanding, and pursuing career prep programs. Flexible schedules with online schools can help students do their work at times during the day that are optimal for their individual schedules and also work within their own peak energy hours. Flexible online school scheduling gives students the chance to work ahead on their assignments, too, or to work on the weekends, if needs be. This being said, it’s also easier for families to go on vacations and not have absences, as well as attend doctor’s appointments, birthday parties, and take needed sick days. Also, with online schools there are terrific cyber-bullying preventions, to keep students safe and secure. Honors clubs and extracurricular activities are also benefits of attending an online school and career prep program, allowing for socialization with people who share many of your own interests. In addition, these clubs give the students opportunities to go to state and national competitions and gather skills such as teamwork, perseverance, leadership, courage, and positive mindsets.
And, last but not least, if you ever need a computer, headset, or maybe even a mouse… online schools have got you covered, which is an amazing benefit! They will mail you any resources you need, in order to get your schoolwork done, and to help you have a smooth school year, overall. They give you computers, headsets, and printers to use during the school year. And, online schools then reuse those resources in the following school year, for newly attending students. This helps both students and parents with financial budgets, and allows for all students to receive a good education.
