Finding The Right Career Pathways Begins The Greater Journey Towards Success
Stride Career Prep Student Advisors share their thoughts and experiences with specific career pathways studies, while still in high school. Getting prepared for a professional career, and life after high school, is the very beginnings of an amazing journey!
“Hi, my name is Justice, and I am a fifteen-year-old sophomore with Idaho Technical Career Academy. I am currently going down the Healthcare Pathway, offered by the Stride Career Prep program. The Stride Career Prep program has helped me along with many other students to prepare for what we want to do after we graduate.
Currently, ITCA has four different pathways: healthcare, business, agriculture, and information technology. Along with your regular core classes, the purpose of the Career Prep program is to help you prepare for your chosen pathway by putting you in electives, that could even help you to get a professional certification, such as a Pharmacy Technician Certification.
This means that I am already getting the preparation for college and life after high school.
On top of getting this certification, I am put in classes with people of similar interests and can make friends that have the same interests and wants that I do. This is so important for a lot of people. The career prep program is so important for all of your career and college-related high school help. Personally, I think that the program has something to offer all schools and even parents, seeing as they get the pleasure of watching their dearest child get to explore and figure out what they will do after high school. This is one of the most important things about selecting a school; if both parties, student and parent, are getting what they need from a school.” ~ Justice Carson
“When I first began Stride Career Prep at the beginning of this year, I was extremely anxious regarding the future. I was unsure of what I wanted to do, and I was terrified of the idea of ending up in a job I’d hate. Even now, I’m still unsure of what I want to do after college, but Stride Career Prep has helped ease my anxieties. With the help of my teachers and counselors, I came up with a short-term plan and learned about all sorts of careers. I have the next steps planned, and I have learned useful skills… such as how to build a resume and find jobs that fit into my interests.
Stride Career Prep has also allowed me to explore different professional pathways… I’ve learned to think realistically and broadly about careers by doing this. I think most importantly I’ve learned that many skills apply to more than just one career path. I have been exposed to different programs, skills, and resources that can help improve my job prospects and future career. To me, Stride Career Prep has helped ease my anxieties towards the future, as well as prepared me for a professional setting. Being a part of it has taught me how I can move on after high school and become a successful adult. For any students anxious about the future, looking for opportunities and resources, or just ambitious for success, I suggest taking full advantage of what Stride Career Prep has to offer and make the most of it.” ~ Kat Collver
