Improvements in health often lead to great improvements in school and career focus
By Sela White, Stride Student Advisor
Before I found out about Stride, I attended a brick-and-mortar school. My former school was not what one would describe as an ideal place to learn. There were loud voices all around me, and I had no option but to sit down all day and participate in classes that weren’t very engaging. I felt physically and mentally trapped at that school.
However, all of that changed when I learned about Stride. During my first week at Stride, I felt as if I was receiving the type of education that my past self could have only dreamed of… My teachers were kind, welcoming, and very helpful. If I was having trouble understanding an assignment, they assisted me without any hesitation! It feels reassuring to know that there are people who want to help you at the times you need it most!
Another great aspect of attending a Stride online school is that they offer a variety of engaging classes. My classes are not only interesting, but I truly feel as if I’m being challenged by the assignments and projects given to me. Additionally, because I attend online classes instead of physical classes, I can work at my own pace. Rather than rushing to finish work by the end of each class, I’m able to complete assignments according to my own schedule. This means that I can comfortably focus on other priorities, knowing that I can go back and finish my schoolwork later.
Learning with Stride allows me to work in any environment that I find comfortable. Whether I feel like working in my room, the kitchen, or any other location in my house, I have the freedom to do so! This is one of my favorite parts about attending a Stride school. It gives me peace, knowing that I’m not forced to work on my assignments in a place where I could be distracted easily.
During the day, I usually become restless after sitting down for such a long time. Since I attend an online school now, I’m able to take exercise breaks during the day. Doing so helps me feel physically stronger, as well as mentally stronger. After exercising, my ability to focus on schoolwork becomes sharper, and I feel good about myself.
Online school has allowed me to have a clearer head, as well as a calmer attitude, in general. Thanks to Stride, not only do I feel less anxious and distracted in my daily life, but I feel like attending an online school made me more confident about my future. I no longer need to work in a single sitting position all day, like in many brick-and-mortar schools. Rather, I’m able to move around and be as physically active as I please, which is healthy for the body and the mind!
All in all, being a Stride student is a title that I’m proud to hold. I first began my journey with Stride over two years ago, and my attitude towards their educational program has not changed. For those who are not yet a part of Stride, believe me when I say that the happiness, freedom, scheduling flexibility, and peace that come with being a Stride student are definitely worth investigating further!
