Online Learning Can Open Up New Life Chapters and Experiences
By Cynthia Blount, Stride Student Advisor
Becoming an online learner was not easy for me. I’d been going to a brick-and-mortar school all my life, until high school hit. Up until online learning began, I mostly cared about the people I was familiar with, and my preferred my routines. When my mom told me I was going to school online, I didn’t know what to expect.
A new chapter of my life opened after enrolling in Stride Career Prep. My first year as a freshman was difficult to adjust to, because everything was new, and I’m not big into change. Although I didn’t want to join online school initially, I would never regret the fun and helpful experiences I gained by going to Stride.
During my first year, I mainly focused on getting familiar with the learning platform and keeping my grades up, but I also wanted to socialize with my peers. I began to care about many people, and I expanded my routines. In no time, I built the courage to participate in classes and even help other students. At the end of the school year, I was nominated as Parliamentarian of TSA at the Digital Academy of Florida. From there on, I was a social butterfly. Stride Career Prep has strengthened my leadership skills, my communications, and my technical skills. Being an officer has given me the opportunity to become a student ambassador for our school!
The year of 2021 is my second year as an online learner, and I have to say I’ve obtained new skills and experiences during the course of this school year, as well. I can’t wait to see what the next chapter at Stride Career Prep will bring!
