Stride Career Prep: Helps Me Move Forward During Difficult Times

Tough Times Come and Go in Life, But with Stride I Keep My Forward Momentum

By Rachel Dyer, Stride Student Advisor

Stride Career Prep is a great program to be part of, mostly because they offer so many learning options for K12 students.  Being a student with Stride Career Prep has allowed me the flexibility I need when I have other things to do in addition to school. One of the programs offered is called ‘dual credit.’  This program allows you to take college classes along with your normal high school curriculum.  Adding college classes in at the same time helps you earn college credits while still in high school, which gives you a major advantage and lots of forward momentum.

Currently, I’m taking Speech along with my regular high school classes, and I studied Psychology last semester.  When I graduate from high school by doing dual credits, I will have an Associate of Science degree. This allows me to have a head start on my career!

Stride Career Prep also has a program called Career Work-Based Learning, and this offers students the chance to job shadow at a particular work site. Job shadowing is a great opportunity for students to observe and interact with industry professionals. There are also apprenticeships and internships that help students learn a trade. Through the Career Work-Based Learning, we do on-site field trips to different company sites. These field trips are fun and educational. However, because of Covid-19, most of them have gone virtual… but we still get to have them, even in these tough times! And, Stride Career Prep has so many opportunities for students, overall. It has allowed me, personally, to further my education during difficult times for traditional brick-and-mortar schools. Stride has so much to offer for all those seeking a solid education and an amazing career future.
