The entire K12 family mourns alongside the community of Uvalde, Texas. We share the feelings of shock, outrage, and despair of Uvalde residents and our entire country as we try to make sense of another senseless tragedy.
As a parent and with so many of our friends and colleagues living and working in communities across Texas, this week’s unimaginable school shooting that claimed the lives of 21 people—19 of whom were children—is simply impossible to fully grasp.
The K12 executive leadership team and I have reached out to our schools and programs in Texas—including those at Texas Virtual Academy at Hallsville (TVAH), Lone Star Online Academy at Roscoe (LSOA), and Texas Online Preparatory School (TOPS)—to determine the best support and resources they need during this time.
As a community of educators and school leaders, we remain committed to serving as role models for children, parents, and families. We also remain committed to doing everything we can to provide a safe space for students’ learning and growth.
Today, please join us in praying for the countless victims of gun violence and for those across the spectrum of injustices—both seen and unseen, sometimes heard but often silent.
Now, more than ever, it’s vital that we support one another and protect our mental health and wellbeing.
Warmest regards,
James
