Success Coaching Can Be Key For Life After High School

By Courtney White, Stride Career Prep Success Coach

Do you ever wonder what exactly you will do after high school? Or maybe you already have a solid plan and wonder if it will lead to your desired lifestyle. Perhaps you have trouble setting goals you think will yield the results you’re seeking, or you have anxiety about navigating college and choosing a career. Maybe you simply need an excellent resume, or you need help finding internships and scholarships. If any of these apply to you, consider student success coaching.

A success coach motivates and inspires students to establish and accomplish goals that they never thought were possible. Think of success coaching for your life as fitness coaching is for your health. A success coach works to create a plan that you can easily follow to reach your educational, career, and life goals. It is a rewarding process that allows students to establish short and long-term goals, and it provides the tools to make those goals a reality. Working with a success coach will allow you to overcome fears of not being able to succeed in college and in life. Coaches work with students to motivate them to make sound decisions, to accomplish their educational and career goals in a timely manner. A success coach will help you:

·       Curate professional online profiles that will represent you well for colleges and jobs

·       Create an expert resume that is sure to attract recruiters

·       Guide you through the college selection, application, and financial aid process

·       Work with you to get the confidence and skills needed to conquer interviewing

·       Point you in the direction of relevant internships

·       Develop a road map to guide you through each step you must take to secure your desired career

·       Establish a plan for everything needed to succeed after high school

·       Answer questions and provide guidance

A typical session for success coaching can last from 30-45 minutes, in an informal setting of the student’s choice (via telephone or zoom call). Your first session with a coach is geared towards learning about you, the student. The session will focus on what your interests and goals are, and how to best formulate your plan. A success coach may have you complete a free career/personality assessment or engage you in fun activities, to delve further into your personality and strengths. Success coaches will deliver helpful information and resources at each session, to guide you on your path, so that you will always have a source to rely on as you navigate your journey. Success coaching sessions are all about you and your needs, so don’t be shy! Working with a coach is no different from speaking and working with your teachers and other school staff.

Signing up with a success coach is easy. Visit https://calendly.com/stridesuccesscoaches and select a coach... Or if you’re not sure where to start, click on “match me to a coach” on the website, and you will be automatically paired with one. Once you make your selection, you can then choose a date and a time that works best for you. You will receive a confirmation email and are all set to meet with your coach!

Whether you are a student with a well-crafted plan for after high school and are looking for some guidance on how to make it a reality, or a student who needs a little help establishing goals to stay on track, or even a student who has no idea what your career and life plans are… Success coaching can help you identify areas of your life that can be strengthened, and coaching sessions can set you up for all-around success.
