My experience in online school is proof that virtual education can offer many benefits that traditional schools lack.
My parents enrolled me at Oklahoma Virtual Charter Academy in 2015 for its structured education without the limits of a classroom. OVCA provides me with flexibility and freedom; I have traveled across the United States and to Egypt, France, and England, and I can access my classes anywhere while gaining experiences that I might have otherwise missed out on.
Some might think that online students lack socialization or extracurricular opportunities, but I have found this to be untrue, with a plethora of activities available to online school students in Oklahoma. I am a musician in the Oklahoma Homeschool Bands and have played a variety of instruments throughout my middle and high school years. I also run cross country with other students.
At OVCA, I can pursue my passions, play instruments and sports, and travel throughout the year. Recently, I applied and was chosen for the Oklahoma’s Superintendent 2022 Student Advisory Council. This select group of students from across the state meets together to solve issues facing our schools. I am proud to represent OVCA while introducing others to the benefits of online school.
