Taking courses such as personal finance and accounting, Makyna explores her passion for business every day. In fact, although she doesn’t need the credits to graduate, she’s taking extra business courses simply because she enjoys them. She’s also the President of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), a career club that allows her to deepen her exploration of business-related topics. As a leader in this organization, she’s been able to organize a number of community outreach projects and lead some of her peers to compete in FBLA’s state competitions! FBLA has also allowed her to make a strong connection with her favorite teacher, who serves as the club’s advisor. This teacher, among others, has supported Makyna throughout high school, ensuring that she stays on top of her work while continuing to explore her passions.
By staying on top of her work, Makyna balances school with many other activities. Outside of the classroom, she practices the skills she learns in her business classes by managing her father’s company. By overseeing employee scheduling and payroll, she’s gaining hand-on business experience that will prepare her for life after graduation. Beyond this, she’s also has time to participate in extracurricular activities at her local brick and mortar high school, acting as the captain of the school’s swim team and attending football games with friends.
With this combination of relevant coursework, passion for business, real-world experience, we’re sure that Makyna is ready for a successful career in business. Thanks for showing us what it means to find your passion in high school!
