Kierra has known she wants to help people as a nurse since she was little. However, she knew that becoming a medical professional requires years of studying. With dreams of becoming a pediatric nurse practitioner, Keira decided to get a head start on her medical education by enrolling in Destinations Career Academy.
Kierra is enrolled in Destinations part time, taking elective health courses on top of traditional classes at her brick and mortar school. Courses such as healthcare exploration and medical terminology have opened her eyes to new facets of healthcare and deepened her desire to pursue nursing. They’ve also given her college credits, putting her on track to graduate high school with an associate’s degree. Beyond just her classes, Kierra is also the Vice-President of Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), an organization which allows her to gain hands-on medical experience. Whether she’s visiting the Ronald McDonald house or exploring a cadaver lab, this career club has allowed her to gain invaluable knowledge about medicine!
By exploring healthcare in high school, Kierra is ready to graduate with a plan! We can’t wait to see her helping patients one day!
