Oklahoma Virtual Charter Academy is using “edutainment” to engage students through familiar digital platforms, including gaming, livestreams and social media-inspired activities. A weekly Legend of Zelda livestream helps students build reading, problem-solving, critical thinking and digital communication skills while fostering connections. Nearly 80% of surveyed participants said the livestream made them feel more connected to school and their peers. The approach uses entertainment as a gateway to purposeful learning.
